Our Seventh Project

Link to public monitoring

Weavers Way Coop opened a new store in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. The Clean Energy Co-op has installed140 panels for a 67.9 kW solar array on the rooftop using a Power Purchase Agreement to finance the project. The estimated annual production is 81MWh which will be used directly within the store. This should cover about 22% of the electricity load. Because the store is a grocery store, the electricity demand is high, powering the many refrigerators and freezers.

New Germantown store under renovations - November 11, 2023 - opening planned for spring 2024

Weavers Way is a cooperatively owned food market open to the public. Thanks to the dedication of their members throughout the years, a tiny buying club started by a few Mt. Airy neighbors in 1973 has evolved into a multi-store co-op serving more than 11,000 member households and their neighbors. The store in Germantown was purchased in March 2023 and open for business on May 15, 2024.

It is located on the corner of Chelten Ave. and Morris St (328 W Chelten Ave, Philadelphia, PA)
